SSO Configuration: Facebook

To add SUMMIT as App in Facebook:

1. Go to http://developer.facebook.com. The Login page is displayed.

2. Click Login and log in to Facebook developer site with valid Facebook credentials.

3. Upon successful login, click My Apps at the top right corner. A drop-down list is displayed.

Note: The My Apps drop-down is available only for users registered as Facebook developers. For information on how to register, go to https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/register#developer-account.

2. Click Add a New App. A pop-up page is displayed seeking platform selection.

3. Select Website. The Quick Start for Website popup page is displayed.

4. Type in a name for the application and click Create New Facebook App ID. The Create a New App ID pop-up page is displayed.

5. Provide the required information in the respective fields and click Create App ID. The Quick Start for Website page is displayed.

6. Click Skip Quick Start. The Dashboard page for the added application is displayed.

Note: The App ID and App Secret should be noted down for future requirements.

7. Click Settings. The Settings page is displayed. Type in the required field information.

8. Click Add Platform. The Select Platform pop-up page is displayed.

9. Select Website. The Website section is added in the Settings page. Type in the Site URL for the application.

Note: Site URL is same as ACS URL in Summit application.

10. Click Save Changes. The application is ready to be used for authentication.

Adding User

To add User as Developer or Tester:

1. Log in to Facebook developer site and click Roles in the left menu. The Roles page is displayed.

2. Click Add Developers and/or Add Testers to add developers and/or testers, and provide the required details. Once added, user is notified.

 

You can also make the App available for public. To do so, do the following:

1. Log in to Facebook developer site and click App Review in the left menu. The App Review page is displayed.

2. Click on the switch element Make SummitSOLogin public? and select Yes. A pop-up seeking confirmation appears.

2. Click Confirm. The application becomes available to public.

To update SUMMIT URL in App:

1. Go to http://developer.facebook.com. The Login page is displayed.

2. Click Login and log in to Facebook developer site with valid Facebook credentials.

3. Upon successful login, click My Apps at the top right corner. A drop-down list is displayed.

2. Click the required App name under My Apps. The Dashboard page is displayed.

3. On the left menu, click Settings. The Settings page is displayed.

4. Update the Site URL in the Website section.

5. Click Save Changes. The URL is updated.
